Hi there! Just wanted to know how you did to get the band on the paper-animation-thing.. in 'she is the new thing'. Did you tke photos of them and used stop motion or did you you use a computer program like after effects to add the animations on a videoclip? hi there! i absolutely loved butterfly, and Corin is a huge influence on me, as an MA student (with 3 weeks left) I have produced a short animated piece as part of an installation of soft sculpture. Hello, I'm sorry about the spam in the forum..I am aware of the problem. It is very difficult to manage because the robots post to it every day. I've just started working with a bunch who help disabled/mentally ill people back into the community, and I think that would be SUCH an enabling film to show them. 'Butterfly' is either humanism at its most beautiful and deceptive, or it is a profound and truthful insight. But either way, it's very moving and masterfully done. The shot of the huge graveyard near the beginning was very moving. The entire thing was so very poetic; a real work of art. Congratulations

I would like to thank Corin for inviting a number of Teddington School students to participate in the production of the new Keane/War Child Charity DVD. Hi Corin! Just spent some idle moments looking at clips of stuff i hadn't seen and that idle moment soon became an hour! Fantastic things. The New Thing one was truly horrendous but v. exciting and it was great to see the Bells one and of course many familiar faces in there. At school I noticed one of my favourite students was listening to Bedshaped and so of course I proudly told him about you doing the video for Keane and when he'd recovered he said it was one of his favourites of all time and is looking forward to more!! xx

Hey Corin, Dunno if you remember, but I am the cameraman from BBC South East that came to your garage studio a few years ago on my own. Did an interview, had a brew & stayed for ages coz it was really interesting. (I had a Motorhead t-shirt on). Just before Butterfly was being premiered - I was gonna come up London, but had to work late... Did an interview with Keane a while after, had the promo, only realised you directed it when editing piece on them... You seem to be a busy bee now - some great stuff stuff there chap. I realized I have been an ardent admirer of Butterfly for sometime now and haven't left mention of what I think of the film. The winding path of circumstances, challenges and traumas life throws at us is adddressed in the film. The pysche is glorified in the film. Like a whirling dust devil, banging and crashing into things until spinning out and balance is brought back into the atmosphere again, Butterfly reveals how the psyche has its own path to salvation and restoration. No matter what is presented to us, a crucified Jesus, a cafe' full of demons, a mysterious cat. PSYCHE controls when we will go from the tight, dark chrysilis to the transfigured butterfly. I liked it!

Hi, Coincidence is a funny thing. I was at the gym this morning and just about to leave when - ooo- what's that, a glimmer of recognition from my peripheral vision? Surely that couldn't be a Lotte Reiniger film playing on the screens... In a GYM. I stuck around watching with glee as gymfolk passed me by, probably thinking I was oogling a young lady or some such, and quickly caught on that someone had paid a wonderful tribute to Lotte Either, that or bleedin' ripped her off. I was pleased after poking around the web to see credit given where credit's due. This particularly interested me because I'm currently working on a video for a band - my first one - which has also been influenced by Reiniger, not to the same extent, but in use of shadow and colour. Hence my coincidence. Strange how events all converge around points in ones life. But AMAZING work! Ive been poking around the site and watching a bunch of stuff. Really really nice.. the girl in the tube... quite possibly the scariest thing I've seen in ages. I shall have nightmares. Last night I drew a cat to feature in the My Little Problem video. Hello Corin, A recent thread was posted on the Keaneshaped site asking us to give our views on what we thought your 'Bedshaped' video clip meant. I gave my interpretation which seemed to be well received, but I know there are details I've overlooked. Then there's the question of the 'other' Roxley?!
Personally I think the video clip is very moving and extremely well directed in every aspect from the animation, symbolism, iconism, use of colour and imagery, its awesome. I haven't seen Butterfly in full and hope I can view it somewhere soon. Hi!! hows it going? just to let you know that the show im working on (Tin Drum) is showing from wednesday 9th of march to saturday 12th. its on at 2.00 and 7.00 each day (apart fron wednesday when its only on at 7.30).
it would be wicked if you could come!!

Saw Butterfly for the first time last weekend, at Hastings Electric Palace. What a superb film and an excellent achievment. I also enjoyed 'Cocooned' - 'the making of' which really highlighted just how much effort was involved. Was going to suggest a showing at the Hailsham film club (at the Pavillion) but I see from previous postings it has already been shown there. Shame, as I would not mind a chance to see it all again. Cannot wait for the DVD.

BTW, I think it was me you captured on video at the Chiddingly Festival two or three years ago. It was in the sculpture garden and I remember enthusing (possibly rather too much?) about the Six Bells pub! Strange I remember that but not what I went to see at the festival?

Totally overwhelmed not only by the film which I saw in Hastings but by the wonderful support you had from your family. A family like that is worth everything.

Here's the latest with Butterfly in case anyone fancies a trip to lovely Hastings and a night out at the cinema... Maybe some fish and chips on the pier etc..

A CHANCE TO CATCH BUTTERFLY IN HASTINGS

Butterfly will be screening this Friday & Saturday night at Hastings Electric Palace Cinema (www.electricpalacecinema.com)
The film will be introduced by Director Corin Hardy who also created the videos for Bedshaped and Somewhere Only We Know. It will be followed by 'Cocooned' which see's the 5 year task of creating Butterfly recorded by the Director - an 'unconventional' Making Of - as well as a cinema screening of the video for Bedshaped. A Q & A session may follow with Corin after the programme.

Programmes begin at 8pm on Friday 21st and Sat 22nd of January - there is only 50 seats in the cinema so get there early to get a seat. Full programme lasts until approx 9.30pm

Saw Butterfly on the community channel last night, i honestly didnt realise how dark it was. However saying that i still loved it. Would love to see it on a big screen though!

Hi Corin, was a great suprise to see you turn up at Hailsham. Great to see the making of Butterfly too as I had never seen that before. It was the second time seeing Butterfly and it seemed even better than the first (if thats possible). Shame about the delay putting the film on, that was probably my fault as I was the person talking about the UserQ site for Paddi and I had had to change the projector setting (Oops, very sorry!)

I caught the end of Butterfly and so want to see the whole thing. Please if you have a mailing list put me on it as I would buy the DVD too! Also let me know if there will be any screenings in Bristol.

To everyone who's wonderfully writing in and with more more regularity - about seeing Butterfly - Please keep holding on.. There's a few opportuniies coming up.. A Belgian Animation ditributer has put it on a DVD as part of this years 'Anima 2004' Festival (in which Butterfly came 1st!) Also there's going to be two screenings down South shortly - One is in Hailsham (near where Keane are from) Possibly another in Hastings (bizzarrely even nearer where Keane are from..)
Finally we're working at getting a really good Butterfly DVD made - along with loads of features and making of s etc.. So please be patient and keep checking this site, which will be updated as things develop.

I only came across this animation via Keane's 'Bedshaped' music video, it was beautiful, unique and very deep. The song and visuals complemented each other perfectly. It was only after looking the animation up online did I realise that this animation was extracted from the 'Butterfly' short film. I have not seen this short film, but I would love to have the opportunity to see and even more to buy it on DVD. I hope that it is promoted if it is released, I would be interested without a doubt.

saw butterfly last week flicking through the channels. it upsets me to think that this film is so unique. there's so much deep thought in it, it's a metaphor for a lot of people's lives. i loved it, i need the dvd NOW! would love to hear of any similarly minded stuff - music, artwork, animation etc. that's on the internet / tv or music world. already know about slowlydownward.com and radiohead.com - visit them too, everyone! i need more stuff that rubs my face in the tatters of my soul.

There's been a phenominal response to the Bedshaped video, thanks for your interest - for anyone wanting to see the film - we're working on getting a Butterfly DVD together. This will feature the film itself alongside special making ofs which incorporate footage I shot over the 5year process, start to finish/premieres/Edinburgh Film Fest etc as well as designs and trailers etc. Keep an eye out over the coming months, we'll update this accordingly.|

I abselutely adore the bedshaped video; it's what brought me to keane and also lifted me out of a dark time. It's THE BEST music video I have ever seen. I have it recorded on my digi box named DO NOT DELETE and it can make me cry I like it so much. I watched the advert for butterfly and I would love to watch it if I ever had the chance. hi!im glad im not the only one to hav noticed the similar tributes to tim burton! we cld be wrong, though i must say wen i first saw the video i thought, ooooo a work of tim burtons! the familiar animation and swerly hill from nightmare b4 x-mas are un-missable! im so intreged by the 2 videos u did for keane that im gna go off and seek some more of your work! im aspecially gna look at this 'butterfly' as i am about to start a course in film studies and wana be a director too i think i should look at as many directors work as possible! its ppl like yourself and mr tim burton that keep me inspired...good job! :D

Heard of Butterfly through the Keane/Bedshaped video. I wondered if there
was any chance that there would be a screening of Butterfly that co incided
with the Keane show in Brixton Academy? I know many people from the Keane
board would love to see the film and a lot of them will obviously be around
in London at that time.

Might be a long shot I know but thought it was worth a mention as I myself
